2 taken to hospital after stabbings in east Oshawa Monday afternoon

Two people have been injured in a stabbing incident Monday afternoon in Oshawa.

One person is in custody and police are seeking a second suspect in the incident which occurred in Easton Park, near Adelaide Avenue and Harmony Road, Durham police said.

The stabbings were reported via social media around 2:30 pm June 20.

“This appears to be an isolated incident and there is no concern for public safety,” police said on Twitter.

One of the victims has been transferred to a Toronto trauma center and another was taken to local hospital, police said. Both males are reported to have non-life-threatening injuries.

Two schools in the area were affected by the violence, the Durham District School Board said on Twitter: “Earlier this afternoon, @VincentMasseyPS and @EastdaleCVI were placed under brief (15 minute) Hold and Secure protocols due to an incident in nearby Easton Park .”

An investigation continues.
