A pantry in Colorado Springs helps households in want

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colorado (KRDO) – Dozens of families in Colorado Springs are getting a little help with Thanksgiving meals this week.

Divine Redeemer Food Pantry is distributing 100 turkeys to families in need on Monday for them to prepare a Thanksgiving meal. It is the responsibility of Church students to raise food donations for such events throughout the year.

According to the 2018 US Census Bureau, 9.9 percent of El Paso County’s Coloradans suffered from poverty. The pandemic has left many people in poverty this year, and El Paso County’s residents are expected to experience the same thing.

To relieve some families of financial burdens in Southern Colorado, Divine Redeemer Food Pantry was dedicated to helping families in the area by providing local meals.

Tricia Faber, Church Volunteer Coordinator, says they have served the ward by donating items since 1969.
