Assault costs in Oshawa, during which one man was critically injured

A man is in critical condition after an attack in Oshawa, police said.

A suspect is charged in the incident, which was reported around 9:20 p.m. on Monday, May 31, in the Simcoe Street and Olive Avenue area. Durham Police said officials responded to a report of an armed person arriving on the scene to find a 54-year-old man with serious head injuries.

The victim was taken to a local hospital and then taken to a trauma center in Toronto, police said.

A suspect was arrested at the scene. Victims and suspects are known, the police said.

Christopher De Jong, of Court Street, Oshawa, faces charges of aggravated assault, assault and gun possession.
