Bollocks Pub expands to a brand new location in Oshawa

John Bird is the owner of Bollocks Pub. Bollocks has two locations in Durham and a third will be added in Oshawa by the end of September. September 2, 2021

A group of local pubs not only survives the pandemic – they are expanding.

Bollocks Pub and Kitchen will open a location in Oshawa at 555 Rossland Rd in late September. W.

The space was formerly inhabited by the Tartan Tavern, which closed in 2020 after more than 40 years in business.

Bollocks also has locations in Whitby and Pickering and one in Stouffville.

“The support we’ve had over the past 18 months has been just amazing and has allowed us to grow,” says John Bird, who owns the Durham facilities. “It’s been a lot of hard work, that’s for sure.”

The Oshawa room is around 50 years old, which means a major facelift is underway.

There’s a deck in the back overlooking hiking trails, and Bird says Bollocks Oshawa will have live entertainment, with plans to bring back some of the bands who used to play in tartan.

He describes the Bollocks menu as “upscale pub fare” with a focus on fresh ingredients.

“We meet the classics; We have your burgers, wings, pizza. But we’re really trying to make her the best version of herself, ”explains Bird.

Wings are the bestseller. New chicken nachos are popular, as are burgers, which all come with two patties.

There is also brick oven pizza, pasta, sandwiches, tacos and a new cocktail menu.

“I like to say that all of our meals come standard with take-away bags. Those are big portions, ”says Bird. “I want the people who come in to really feel like they got their money’s worth, from the portion size to the quality of service.”
