Cultural performances and shows featured in Oshawa’s Memorial Park on Sunday

OSCC55+ is hosting Cultural Carousal at Memorial Park on Sunday Aug. 14.

Durham residents are invited to join the Oshawa Senior Community Centers for Cultural Carousal, a celebration of the arts and culture.

The event will be held on Aug. 14 at Memorial Park in Oshawa, 110 Simcoe St. S., from 1 pm to 4 pm

The event will feature live entertainment, demonstrations and community displays starting at 1 pm with a country acknowledgment.

Among those featured will be Indigenous Jingle Dance, a Bollywood medley with Team Sakura, the Inspiracion Latina Dance Duo, the Chinese Collective Arts Association, Tamil dance from Akshini Nithianandan and Wiingushk Deywgygun (Sweetgrass Drum).

Oshawa Mayor Dan Carter will be on hand to offer greetings.

The OSCC55+ event received partial funding from the New Horizons for Seniors Program and is aimed at connecting cultural communities in an exchange of cultural knowledge and traditions.
