Heavily armed tactical Durham Police officers surrounded a residential building in East Oshawa in a day-long standoff with a suspect after a woman reportedly pulled a gun during an argument.
An Oshawa woman faces a number of charges in the aftermath of the incident, which began just after 10 a.m. on Tuesday, May 25 in the Athabasca Street and King Street East area. Durham police said a suspect threatened three other people with a gun during an argument, then fled to their home and barricaded himself in it.
Officials surrounded the house and negotiated with the woman for several hours to surrender peacefully, the police said. At around 5:10 p.m., a woman finally left the apartment and was arrested.
Upon arrest, the police confiscated a shotgun.
Tracy Catherwood, 57, from Oshawa, is charged with being shot multiple times, making death threats and failing to appear in court. She was being held for bail hearing.
