The surviving family of Ruth Humphries, who was found murdered in her south Oshawa home by her grandson last week, have started a GoFundMe fundraiser to assist with funeral costs.
Humphries’ granddaughter Amber Humphries started the fundraiser yesterday. In the time since 76 donors have raised over $6,000 of the $10,000 goal.
“Ruth was well-loved by everyone who knew her. She was such a special lady and the sudden loss of her is felt deeply by many. If you were blessed enough to know my grandmother, you would know what a beautiful and kind-hearted soul she was. ”
Ruth Humphries body was discovered on November 2 in her home on Phillip Murray Drive. When police arrived they immediately considered their death suspicious.
The following day, Durham Region Police declared her death a homicide, the sixth slaying in Durham this year. Police said she had suffered injuries “not consistent with accidental or self-inflicted wounds.”
On November 5, police arrested Ludmilla Auclair, 40 of Oshawa, and charged her with second-degree murder. Police believe Humphries death was an isolated incident. No relationship has been confirmed between Auclair and Humphries.
