It took virtually a 12 months, however Durham police arrested a Mississauga man for gun and assault in an altercation in Oshawa

A Mississauga man is charged after an incident on a street in Oshawa last year.

A 23-year-old man was returning home on Frederick Mason Drive at around 4 a.m. on Friday, August 28, 2020 when several unidentified men approached him, ambushed him, and tried to take his jewelry and shoes. He was hit on the head with an object and later went to hospital for treatment, Durham Regional Police reported.

The victim’s father tried to end the argument and was hit by a suspect’s vehicle. He was given medical care on site, the police added.

While on the run, one of the suspects is said to have shot the house.

With the help of the Offender Management Unit, the investigators arrested a suspect.

Eden Hamilton, 38 on Lisgar Drive, Mississauga, has been charged with assault with a gun, assault on two counts, robbery with an offensive gun, possession of a gun that threatens the public peace, use of a firearm in the commission of a crime, possession of one loaded restricted or prohibited firearm and failure to comply.

He was being held for a bail hearing.

This is an ongoing investigation and additional suspects are being sought.
