A six-year-old girl was bitten by a coyote in Oshawa on Thursday July 1st, and police are urging residents to be careful.
The incident occurred around 8:30 p.m. on July 1 in Northway Court Park, where the girl was playing when a coyote approached and bit her, Durham Regional Police reported.
Several adults chased the coyote away and he ran into nearby woods. Oshawa Animal Services were called and kept an eye out for the coyote while police were there, police added.
Officials built a perimeter to catch the animal, but it fled east on Oshawa Boulevard North and disappeared into a ravine.
The girl was taken to hospital for treatment for the bite.
