The sight of a man sitting with two swords in plain sight led police to the seizure of several weapons in Oshawa.
A man now faces charges as a result of the incident on Friday, June 24. Durham police said the incident arose as a result of a foot patrol in the downtown area.
Officers “were out on a foot patrol in the downtown core of Oshawa, when they observed a male sitting outside a stairwell of Center Street with two samurai swords on his lap,” police said.
The suspect was taken into custody without incident and police seized several knives, two samurai swords and an imitation firearm.
Robert Scott, 36, of Oshawa, is charged with weapons possession and breach of probation.
