Oshawa girl charged after fraud investigation in clinic

A dental clinic lost about $ 40,000 and a 43-year-old woman is charged with fraud after an investigation in Oshawa.

The financial crimes division of the Durham Regional Police Department opened a fraud investigation related to the misappropriation of funds between January 2019 and March 2020, the police found.

An audit was conducted at My Dentist My Doctor clinic and investigators received reports of an employee accepting funds received from clients for her personal benefit.

The clinic suffered a financial loss of approximately $ 40,000.

The Financial Crime Department wants to make sure there are no more victims or witnesses.

Jean Hakim, also known as Jean Persaud, 43, of Oshawa, has been charged with fraud over $ 5,000, theft over $ 5,000, possession of criminally obtained property over $ 5,000, and failure to comply with the probation order.
