Oshawa lady calls $1M lottery win ‘a dream come true’

A big win in the lottery is described as a “dream come true” for an Oshawa woman and her family.

Nadezda Calderone says she plans to share her good luck with her family after claiming her $1 million prize, won in the June 21 Lotto Max draw.

“I’m so overwhelmed,” she said. “It’s a dream come true.”

Calderone, 53, was at home when her husband checked her ticket using the OLG App. “I heard him screaming so I went to see what was happening and I gasped when I saw his phone screen. I couldn’t believe it,” she said. “We ran to the store together and the clerk was shocked too. He had tears in his eyes.”

She plans to share the win with her daughters. “I want to set them up for their future and education. I also want to plan a trip to California with them,” she said.

Lotto Max players have won over $7 billion since 2009, according to the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Commission.
