Oshawa pedestrian trapped beneath automobile after being struck

A pedestrian was taken to a Toronto-area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries after being struck by a vehicle in Oshawa on Thursday evening.

In a March 31 tweet, Durham police say the pedestrian was hit by a vehicle near the intersection of King Street West and Thornton Road around 7 pm that night.

As a result of the collision, King Street West at Thornton Road, through to Dundas Street East at Gerrard Road in Whitby, was closed in both directions for an accident investigation, said police.

According to Colin Williamson, a freelance photojournalist at the scene, a man believed to be in his 20s was trapped underneath a vehicle after being struck. He was later extricated by Oshawa firefighters and transported to Sunnybrook hospital, Williamson tweeted.
