Colorado Springs Labor Day: Listing of prime occasions, plus open and closed arts and leisure

Here’s a look at the events taking place in Colorado Springs and the Pikes Peak area on Labor Day 2020 (Monday, Sept. 7), along with a list of open and closed.

– Colorado Springs Labor Day Lift Off Citywide Celebration: With 35-40 balloons to be launched from around 15 locations across the city, residents will be able to watch the “pop-up” balloon lights from home at night from September 4th to 5th, Set. 5-6 balloon launches; oshawaspringslabordayliftoff.com.

– Colorado State Fair – Virtual events, pueblo; oshawastatefair.com. Cattle and horse shows will be broadcast live from September 4th to 7th, the world championship in slopper eating will be broadcast live at 1pm on September 5th.

– Labor Day Art and Craft Festival of the Commonwheel Co-op – Virtual, Sept. 5-13; commonwheel.com/virtual-festival.

Closings

Banks and credit unions: Most banks and credit unions are closed on Monday; check with individual banks or credit unions.

Buses (subway): The buses run on Monday according to the Sunday schedule.

Government Offices: City, district, state and federal offices closed on Mondays.

Libraries: All branches in the Pikes Peak Library District are closed on Monday.

Post: No postal service and office closed Monday.

Public schools: Closed on Mondays.

The newspaper: Office closed; Newspaper delivery unaffected.

Shopping centers: The Citadel, Chapel Hills open Monday 11 am-7pm; Briargate Promenade Shops are open Mondays from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Large department stores and grocery stores: Open Monday at regular opening times.
