An Oshawa teenager is charged with drug and gun possession after a traffic stop in Kingston.
The incident began just after 3 a.m. on Monday, August 9, when officers on patrol downtown saw a car run over two stop signs, Kingston City Police said. A male passenger gave a false name when officers stopped the vehicle and then fled on foot while police verified his real identity.
During a car chase, officers saw a suspect throw away two packages that later turned out to be cocaine, police said. A suspect was arrested about 10 minutes after the first traffic control.
A belt pouch containing cocaine, fentanyl and a loaded pistol was discovered during a search of the car, police said.
A 17-year-old man from Oshawa is charged with drug and weapon offenses.
