Oshawa voters re-elect Jennifer French

Jennifer French reclaimed her seat at Queen’s Park in the provincial election on Thursday, June 2.

The Oshawa NDP incumbent secured the riding by 757 votes, according to unofficial election results released by Elections Ontario early on Friday, June 3.

French earned 17,170 votes, which was 42.08 per cent of the votes cast in Oshawa, followed closely by Progressive Conservative candidate Alex Down, with 16,413 votes, 40.23 per cent.

Liberal candidate Catherine Mosca received 3,726 votes (9.13 percent).

Following the top three, Green Party candidate Katarina Dunham had 1,641 votes (4.02 per cent), New Blue candidate Daryl Janssen got 1,006 votes (2.47 per cent), and Ontario party Dave Forsythe received 843 votes (2.07 per cent).

In Oshawa, there are 104,199 registered voters. Only 39.15 per cent of the constituents turned out to cast a ballot on June 2, according to Elections Ontario.
