Traffic in Oshawa was affected after a mishap at a work site mid-day Thursday, Sept. 22.

A brick veneer on a commercial at Simcoe Street and St. Lawrence Street gave way as workers removed outer siding, according to Tyler Stoddard, chief building official with the City of Oshawa.

The structure of the building was not compromised, he said.

The incident, originally described as the partial collapse of a building, occurred around mid-day. No injuries were reported, Durham police said.

Police had asked people to avoid the area but as of 2 pm reported just one lane of traffic was affected.
