Police have asked witnesses to come forward as the investigation into the shooting of a young man in Oshawa continues on Thursday evening.

The 18-year-old was found with serious injuries in a parking lot on Chevron Prince Path in the Simcoe Street and Britannia Avenue area by officers who responded to reports of a shooting at around 7:50 p.m., Durham police said. In updating the incident on Friday, police said the shooting wasn’t a random incident.

The victim was taken to a Toronto hospital. The police announced in a noon update that a suspect description is not yet available.

The neighborhood between Simcoe Street North and Britannia Avenue was the site of a fatal shootout in December 2019.
