Weapons and medicines confiscated on the Oshawa visitors management level
More than a dozen charges are brought against one man after police confiscated a gun and drugs at a traffic stop in Oshawa.
Durham Regional Police stopped a vehicle in the Albert and Elm Streets area on Tuesday June 29 for a violation of the Highway Traffic Act. During the investigation, the officers discovered an inmate with a loaded firearm, police reported.
When the gun was found, a suspect attacked the officer and escaped on foot. A brief car chase took place before the suspect was arrested. Another firearm was found and officers also found cocaine and fentanyl, police said.
Alexander Mitchell, 25, with no permanent address, faces 16 charges, including firearms-related crimes, assault on an officer and drug trafficking charges. He was being held on bail hearing.
Brittany Lewis, 24, from Scarborough is charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking in cocaine. She was fired because of an engagement.
Jamel Rose, 20, of Kitchener, is charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking in cocaine. He was fired because of an engagement.
